Honda's N. American production to return to normal

[November 29, 2011]  DETROIT (AP) -- Honda says its North American plants will get back to normal production by Thursday.

The factories have been slowed by parts shortages from flooding in Thailand. Some were running at only half their capacity.

Honda says it is working with parts suppliers in Thailand and has found new parts sources for North America. Honda Motor Co. Ltd. has six auto assembly plants in the U.S. and Canada.

Spokesman Ed Miller says flooding in Thailand is still slowing Honda's production in Asia.

Honda says 87 percent of the Honda and Acura cars sold in the U.S. last year were made in North America, and most of the parts were made here. But Honda still uses electronic parts from Thailand.

Thailand is a large supplier of computer chips that control engines and other functions.
