It’s Harvest Time

A son and his father were hiking through a small canyon. Suddenly, the son falls, hurts himself and yells: "AAhhhh!!!" To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere up the canyon: "AAhhhh!!!"

Curious, he yells: "Who are you?" He receives the answer: "Who are you?" Angered at the response, he screams: "Jerk!" He receives the answer: "Jerk!" He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"
The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention." And then he screams to the canyon: "I like you!" The voice answers: "I like you!" Again the man screams: "You are amazing!" The voice answers: "You are amazing!" The boy is surprised, but does not understand.

Then the father explains: "People call this an ECHO, but really this is a picture of LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love, you have to give away more love. If you want more encouragement, give more encouragement to others. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; life will give you back everything you have given to it.

This is also the harvest principle. October marks the time of year when farmers will reap what they have sown months earlier. And, it is the same principle that drives our Harvest of Talents ministries.

Every October, countless individuals bring items they have crafted, baked, constructed and or created to our Harvest event and donate it to help minister together for World Hunger.

Our Harvest of Talents has become a true “community event” for so many; an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to come together in a single cause to help feed the hungry of our world.
In the past 28 years, the monies collected by this festival has been used for food and medicine for hungry and hurting people who have been through a natural disaster all over our planet. Every dollar and every cent collected during this event will be given to International Disaster Emergency Services (IDES) and distributed through their agency. IDES is a Christian benevolent organization whose reputation in disaster situations has been above reproach and we are blessed to join them in shared ministry.

What can you do to help in this year’s Harvest event?

• Contribute homemade items to be sold.
• Purchase items, and encourage others to do the same.
• Come for breakfast (homemade rolls) and or lunch.
• Make a direct contribution.
• Participate in the 2:00 PM Harvest Auction.

"It is possible to give away and become richer! It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything. Yes the generous man shall be rich. By watering others, he waters Himself." Proverbs 11:24-25 (LB)
