Two-term incumbent Robert Thomas has
announced his intention to run for re-election to the office of
Logan County coroner.
"It has been my honor to serve the families of Logan County during a
time of loss, sadness and often tragedy in their lives," said
Thomas. "I would like to continue that privilege for another four
years."

Thomas worked 27 years with the Lincoln Rural Fire Protection
District prior to his election as coroner. He attained the rank of
chief and held that position until his retirement in 2004. He has
served six years as an officer in the Logan County Fire Protection
Association, with two of those years as the association's president.
He currently maintains emergency medical technician certification.
Thomas supervises a staff of three part-time, on-call deputies.
He credits much of the successful and professional operation of his
office to the dedication of his staff. Each deputy comes from a law
enforcement, fire service or EMS background, bringing valuable
knowledge and experience to the coroner's office. Even so, training
has been a priority with Thomas. The coroner and his deputies have
attended hundreds of hours of training over the past few years,
nearly all of which was available through state funding grants, with
little or no direct cost to Logan County taxpayers.
Thomas is a member of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training &
Standards Board's Mobile Training Unit 10, the Illinois Coroners and
Medical Examiners Association, the Logan County Fire Protection
Association, Logan County Emergency Planning Committee, and the
Logan County Paramedic Association's board of directors.

The Logan County coroner's office is committed to the care of the
deceased and concern for the living.
"I look forward to continuing that commitment to the folks of
Logan County for another four years as coroner," Thomas said.
