Judge James Zagel told attorneys Tuesday at Springfield powerbroker
William Cellini's trial that a jury would likely be impaneled
Wednesday. Lawyers would then give their opening statements. The
76-year-old Cellini has pleaded not guilty to conspiring to shake
down the Oscar-winning producer of "Million Dollar Baby" for a
campaign contribution to Blagojevich.
The judge questioned dozens more potential jurors Tuesday,
including a Croatian folk-group musician and a college student who
wants to be an FBI agent.
The judge dismissed several potential jurors, including a man who
blasted what he called lobbyists and influence peddlers whom he
believed undermined the democratic process.
