When
the Lincoln Fire Department and Lincoln Police Department arrived at
the multifamily apartment building, both agencies did a search of
the building to get the rest of the occupants out of the building.
Four of the six apartments were occupied.
During the operations, three firefighters were injured.
The age and layout of the structure made the efforts to
extinguish the fire very difficult. Both ladder trucks from the city
of Lincoln were on the scene, using elevated streams to help
extinguish the fire.
During the process of fighting the fire, two neighboring
properties were damaged.
There was mutual aid from off-duty members of the Lincoln Fire
Department along with the Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District,
Atlanta Fire Department, Mount Pulaski Fire Department, Latham Fire
Department, Ameren, Lincoln Police Department, Lincoln Street
Department, Logan County Paramedic Association, Logan County
Emergency Management Agency, and the American Red Cross.
