Both lumberyards have been in operation in Lincoln for decades and
will merge locations at the Woodlawn address.
The following letter obtained by LDN is from Hundman Lumber's
president, Mike Hundman, explaining the situation to customers. The
letter was mailed out today (Friday).
___
Hundman Lumber
Companies and Alexander Lumber have signed a letter of intent to
combine our two companies under the Alexander name.
Based in Aurora,
Alexander Lumber has been a successful building materials supplier
in Illinois and Wisconsin for over 120 years. A family owned
company, Alexander currently operates in 23 locations. We will
benefit from Alexander's resources and experience in making
improvements to our systems and facilities. The larger organization
will provide broader job opportunities for our outstanding
employees.
This is a great
opportunity for us to improve our service to you. You will benefit
from Alexander's resources, experience and improvements to our
systems and facilities. The combined company will enable us to use
the power of greater volume buying to obtain more competitive prices
for you. While we will become part of a larger organization, our
commitment to serving you and our focus on our local communities
will not change.
I will become part
of the management team for Alexander Lumber in the downstate area. I
am excited to work with them to merge our two companies to better
serve you.
