[September 08, 2011]  (AP)  The remnants of Lee will continue to bring more active weather to the Northeast and parts of the Mid-Atlantic Thursday as it weakens over the Ohio Valley.

HardwareTropical moisture will continue to accompany this system as associated fronts become stationary in the Mid-Atlantic, central Florida and southern New England. This activity will trigger another round of scattered showers, bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms from the Northeast southward through Pennsylvania into the northern Mid-Atlantic. Lighter showers are expected in the Florida Peninsula. Meanwhile, moisture will also wrap around and spread back into the Ohio Valley, creating chances of light shower activity in parts of Indiana, Ohio and southeastern Michigan.

Offshore, in the Atlantic Ocean, Category 1 Hurricane Katia will continue to produce large swells and dangerous surf conditions along much of the East Coast as it treks northward through the western Atlantic Ocean.

In the West, a lingering disturbance and monsoonal moisture spreading across the Southwest will support more chances of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the central and southern Rockies. Calmer conditions are expected elsewhere in the West due to high pressure.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a morning low of 28 degrees at West Yellowstone, Mont., to a high of 108 degrees at Palm Springs, Calif.
