The partnership's response continued: "If this closure were to
proceed, it would have a very negative impact on Lincoln and Logan
County and its citizens. The community is just now recovering from
the 2002 closing of the Lincoln Developmental Center.
"We would hope the governor isn't using the closing and these
jobs as a bargaining tool for the disagreement between the
governor's office and the Legislature in an effort to solve a
budgeting problem. Hopefully, the governor and Legislature will be
able to reach an amicable agreement to solve the budgeting problem
in such a way that it will not have another lasting negative impact
on the citizens of Lincoln and Logan County."
