Throughout the weekend
in Logan County there were several activities geared to remembering the tragic
events of Sept. 11, 2001.
While the remembrance was a very important part of each event, the
events also focused on expressing appreciation toward local first
responders.
On Saturday and Sunday, the local Bonanza, owned by Brett Borst, offered free buffet lunches to all first responders.
On Saturday, several city of Lincoln firefighters, members of the
Logan County Paramedic Association and officers from the Logan
County Sheriff's Department stopped in for a noontime meal. Among
the Lincoln firefighters was Tim Aper. As Aper, who has been with
the Lincoln department since 1997, made his way around the buffet, he
spied a familiar face. He walked over and shook the hand of a
firefighter from Emden, Lowell Aper. "We're related," Tim Aper said
as the two men sat together and visited. While talking, the senior
Aper proudly shared that he has been on the Emden Fire Department
for 50 years.
Here are just a few shots of some of our local first responders.
