Sunday the Kroger on Lincoln's
west side offered a couple of special events in remembrance of
Sept. 11, 2001.
According to store manager Jan Metz, on Sunday morning at the precise time of the first attack on the
World Trade Center 10 years ago, all the managers of all Kroger
stores read a special memorial script and called for all
store employees and shoppers to stand and observe a moment of
silence in remembrance.
Later that morning, Metz, accompanied by deli manager Robin Ingram
and Kroger's good will ambassador, Kathy Horn, delivered massive
amounts of food to the Logan County Safety Complex Blue Room.
As they decorated and set out food, Metz said that all Kroger stores were offering some special event for local first
responders. Horn added that in Lincoln they had invited firefighters
from the city and Lincoln Rural departments, the sheriff's office, city police,
Logan County Paramedics, emergency management and the 911
dispatchers, and the safety complex jailers.
As they finished setting up, the Kroger crew took time for a photo
with Alana Sorrentino of EMA.
