Postville Courthouse State Historic
Site sits on Fifth Street in Lincoln, a reminder of our historic
ties to a time long ago when Abraham Lincoln came through this area
on the 8th Judicial Circuit. Struggling through the state's
financial woes, Postville has always remained open for the public,
purely due to the dedication of volunteers.

With the recent
retirement of longtime volunteer coordinator Shirley Bartelmay and a
few other volunteers, the new coordinator, Stu Churchill, is opening
those slots to anyone in the community who is interested in
volunteering. Postville Courthouse State Historic Site is open
Tuesday through Saturday, from 12 to 5 p.m., with volunteers usually
taking one shift a month. Anyone interested in history, community
involvement and meeting new people would fit the description of a
good volunteer for Postville.
Interested parties are urged to call 217-732-8687 and sign up to
be a part of this priceless group of individuals. Their love for
Postville and the Lincoln-Logan County area shows through in their
dedication.
