The
National Railsplitting Contest always starts out with a re-enactment
of Abe christening the town in his name. Afterward, lots were drawn
for logs and the splitting contest began.
Special awards were presented
to Oliver Friedlein for years with the contest and to Gwen Tibbs for
years of service as Railsplitting Festival treasurer.
The attendance prize went to
Terri Haizdo. The quilt was won by Dr. Alyssa Schneider, and the
Habitat for Humanity playhouse was won by April Boward.
