The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum will join participating
museums and cultural institutions nationwide to open their doors
free of charge to all visitors who download the Museum Day ticket.
Museum Day is a celebration of the free dissemination of knowledge
to anyone, emulating the free admission policy of the Smithsonian
			Institution's Washington, D.C.-based facilities.

With support from CITGO, Museum Day 2011 is poised to be the
largest to date, outdoing last year's record-breaking event. In
2010, a total of 227,747 tickets were downloaded, resulting in more
than 500,000 visits to more than 1,300 venues in all 50 states,
Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. This is the first year the
			Lincoln Presidential Museum will participate.

The presidential museum's regular admission fee is $12 for
adults, $9 for senior citizens 62 and up, $9 for students with an
ID, $7 for active-duty military personnel, and $6 for children ages
5-15. Children under 5 are admitted free.

The Illinois State Museum in Springfield will also be
participating in Museum Day. The state museum is free every day, so
no tickets are needed. In celebration of the Worldwide Day of Play
on the same day, children ages 10 and under who visit the Play
Museum at the Illinois State Museum will receive a free disc while
			supplies last.

The Museum Day ticket is available to download at

www.smithsonian.com/museumday, and a list of participating
museums is available from the website as well. Visitors who present
the official ticket will gain free admission for two people to
participating museums and cultural venues. One ticket is permitted
			per household, per email address.
