AOL Inc., up $7.98 at $26.40

The Internet company is selling 800 of its patents and their related applications to Microsoft for about $1.06 billion in cash.

Avon Products Inc., down 73 cents at $22.69

After a four-month search, the beauty-products company said that Johnson & Johnson executive Sherilyn McCoy will be its new CEO.

Greenbrier Cos., down $1.26 at $18.44

The railroad-equipment maker said it returned to a profit in its fiscal second quarter as deliveries of new railcars climbed.

Nasdaq

Optimer Pharmaceuticals Inc., down 57 cents at $13.72

The biopharmaceutical company said that its board ousted its chairman and fired its chief financial officer and another executive.

Titan Machinery Inc., up $1.78 at $29.10

A Baird analyst upgraded the agriculture- and construction-equipment seller's stock saying that its acquisitions are driving growth.

Great Wolf Resorts Inc., up 86 cents at $7.44

The indoor water-park owner said that private investment firm KSL Capital Partners raised its offer to acquire it to $7 per share.

MagicJack VocalTec Ltd., up $2.26 at $23.07

The maker of devices that route low-cost phone calls over the Internet said it expects to report an rise in first-quarter profit and sales.

InterMune Inc., down $2.38 at $12.90

The biotechnology company said it expects to get approval to sell its lung disease drug Esbriet in the fourth quarter, later than expected.
