Woods missed Quail Hollow a year ago because of what was described as a "minor injury" to his left leg. The last time he played the Wells Fargo Championship, it was his second tournament since returning from the crisis in his personal life. He missed the cut with the highest 36-hole score (153) of his career.
Masters champion Bubba Watson, U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and former U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell also said they would play at Quail Hollow, a major caliber course that attracts one of the strongest fields of the year.
Westwood also said he would be at The Players Championship, which he skipped a year ago.
