[April 14, 2012]  ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says President Barack Obama wants to reshape the Supreme Court to soften gun rights, among other things.

Romney told the National Rifle Association convention Friday in St. Louis that he will stand up for the rights of hunters and those seeking to protect their homes and families. He said Obama fails to do so, but he didn't offer any specifics.

Obama's re-election campaign said the president supports and respects gun rights.

Romney said Obama is among those who see the Constitution as a living and evolving document rather than as a timeless one. He said Obama is trying to browbeat the Supreme Court on the major health care decision pending before the nine justices.
