George Dahmm

[April 13, 2012]  LINCOLN -- George W. Dahmm, 86, of Lincoln, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at 12:24 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

LINCOLN-George W. Dahmm, 86, of Lincoln passed away at 12:24 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Mr. Dahmm was born February 21, 1926 in West Lincoln Township to Harry Louis and Viola Marie Sahs Dahmm. He married Eva Mae Hunter on January 1, 1951 in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Muriel (John) Barnard of Lincoln, Laura (Charlie) Tomlinson of Beason, Vivian (Gerardo) Valdes of Lincoln, Georgia (Bill) Allison of Lincoln, one brother Wallace (Wilma) Dahmm of New Holland, one sister Harriet (Dan) Hopp of Lincoln, seven grandchildren, Will (Mandy) Tomlinson of Athens, IL, Jason (Heather) Tomlinson, of Lincoln, Lewis (Kelli) Allison of Lincoln, Alejandro Valdes of Lincoln, Fay Allison of Lincoln, Elise Valdes of Lutz, FL, Esther Tomlinson of Beason, Linda (John) Karr of Altus, OK, Lisa (Forrest) Bell of Burley, ID, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Donna Marie.

George was a carpenter with Dahmm Brothers Construction and farmed in Aetna Township and was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Along with his brother Wally he was a co-leader of the Handy Andy 4-H Club. Current president of the Springfield Ostomy Association. After retiring, he was one of the founding members for Habitat for Humanity in 1992. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

Funeral services for Mr. Dahmm will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. Clarence Mankin officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 11, also at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery, Lincoln where full military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to either Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Springfield Ostomy Chapter, the Logan County Chapter for Habitat for Humanity. Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
