Britain will field a women's team for the first time at an Olympics. It will be coached by Hope Powell, who has led England since 1998.
Both teams are set to play friendlies in July to warm up for the tournament, which starts on July 25 -- two days before the opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium.
The draw for the Olympic soccer tournament takes place on Tuesday at Wembley Stadium, where the gold medal match will be held. The playoff for the final place in the men's competition takes places on Monday when Senegal plays Oman.
