[April 21, 2012]  NORMAL -- Interstate 74 rival Bradley scored in all but one inning, including a six-run knockout punch in the seventh inning, to post a 13-2 seven-inning victory over Illinois State on Friday afternoon in game one of a three-game series at Duffy Bass Field.

ISU's Chris Razo took the loss after throwing six innings, dropping his record to 4-4 on the season. He surrendered seven runs, six of which were earned, and 11 hits, while walking three and striking out two. Bradley posted its six-run inning in the seventh against Johnny Lieske, who allowed all the runs in the frame, including four earned runs, in only a third of an inning pitched.

With the loss, Illinois State suffered its fourth straight defeat and fell to 20-14 on the season, while the Braves improved to 20-14-1. Bradley's Joe Bircher pitched a complete game to earn the win, allowing only two runs on five hits.

Both the Redbird runs came in the first two innings, off a sacrifice fly in each frame. Kevin Tokarski sent a fly ball to the wall in the bottom of the first inning with the bases loaded to drive home Chad Hinshaw for the first run. In the second inning, Kyle Stanton flied out to right field to score Matt Mirabal, who had tripled to open the frame.

ISU's Ty Wiesemeyer posted two of the Redbirds' five hits, while Bradley's Max Murphy finished with a game-high four RBIs, including two with a third-inning two-run home run.

Illinois State and Bradley return to Duffy Bass Field on Saturday for a 2 p.m. start.
