Last Thursday afternoon, a
happy crowd gathered at Ray White Park on Short 11th Street to
witness the unveiling of a new memorial sign for the park.
White, who worked for the city of Lincoln for
over 20 years, was a member of the community and instrumental in
getting the playground established for neighborhood children.

Tracy Jackson, street and alley
superintendent,
told the group how the sign came to be.

Several city officials were on hand for the
unveiling, along with members of the community. |

Time to lift the tarp.

The old sign compared with the new -- quite a
difference. |

Mayor Keith Snyder remembers the day when he
was a city employee working for White in the street department.
|
White's wife, Pauline, carries on the tradition
of watching over the children in the park.

Paula Schaub, White's daughter, dedicates much
of her time to the park, in loving memory of her father.

Pictured at left, Roy Logan and Marsha Greenslate
of the park district join in the celebration. |
