1. Discovering diseased cow was stroke of luck.

Only a small portion of dead animals are tested for mad cow disease.

2. Arrest of ex-BP engineer shows direction of federal probe.

The government is looking into whether the company broke the law by intentionally lowballing how much oil was spewing from its out-of-control well.

3. Obama doesn't have the young vote wrapped up.

Younger voters burdened by a bleak employment picture, high gas prices and student loan debt are being aggressively wooed by both the president and his rival, Mitt Romney.

4. Tourism benefits from Korean DMZ tensions.

Soldiers from North and South Korea watch each other across the same tense no-man's land that draws busloads of camera-toting tourists from both sides.

5. Federal Reserve to issue policy statement at 12:30 p.m.

But investors aren't expected to learn much from the statement or its updated economic forecasts or from Chairman Ben Bernanke's quarterly news conference at 2:15 p.m.

6. He's not the Rodney King you might remember.

The bloody face after the 1992 beating he got from L.A. Police sparked a race riot, but now the former reality star and record company executive has a new image.

7. Supreme Court questions Arizona's tough immigration law.

The Obama administration contends that states have a limited role to play in immigration policy. Arguments are expected to conclude at about 11 a.m.

8. Charities seek a few good baby boomers.

Boomers are attractive volunteers, and it's not just the sheer strength of their numbers -- 77 million. They also tend to be more educated.

9. The government likes seeing solar panels on your house.

But your neighbors may not like it and more disputes are arising over the ban of solar panels by homeowners associations or local governments.

10. Ted Williams memorabilia gets auctioned off.

Fans can see hundreds of items once owned by the Red Sox slugger at a preview Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before Saturday's auction.
