[April 25, 2012]  A construction project was recently awarded to widen and resurface 0.792 miles of County Highway 1, also known as Spring Street. The project will take place during the summer months, but a date has not yet been set. During the construction, the roadway will be closed to traffic for several days at a time. The entire project is expected to take two months to complete.

The existing roadway will be widened along each side. The pavement will be recycled by incorporating Portland cement to a depth of 12 inches. The new stabilized base will then be overlaid with 4 inches of hot-mix asphalt.

A construction bid amount of $499,400.07 was awarded to Illinois Valley Paving of Springfield. This cost will be paid from Logan County's motor fuel tax fund.

Additional information will be made available when a start date has been determined.
