Life after Death?

Send a link to a friend

"

The Old Testament man, Job, posed what might be the most important question ever asked. “If a man dies, can he live again?” (Job 14:14)

Is there such a thing as resurrection? Many in our world say, “No!” They believe you have only this life to live and then you fade into nonexistence.

However, much of the Bible is dedicated to proving the truth of resurrection. There are several resurrection stories with thousands of witnesses. God desperately wants to convince us that resurrection is certain.

Jesus staked His entire reputation on the Resurrection -- if it didn’t happen, everything that Jesus said and did is open to question. If it never happened, Christianity collapses into mythology along side of Bigfoot monsters and UFO’s.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:17: “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless.” The Resurrection is either one of the most wicked, heartless, vicious hoaxes ever pulled on people of faith or it is the most fantastic fact one has ever known.
Many in our time would want you to believe that no one with an education or what they call a “free thinker” would accept the idea of life after death. That kind of teaching is for the simple. Not true!

Winston Churchill chose to believe. Churchill arranged his own funeral. There were stately hymns and an impressive liturgy. But at the end of the service, Churchill had an unusual event planned. A bugler high in the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral on one side played Taps, the universal signal that the day is over. There was a pause. Then a bugler on the other side played Reveille, the military wake-up call.

It was Churchill's way of communicating that, while we say "Good night" here, it's "Good morning" up there. Now why would he do that? Because he believed in Jesus Christ, who said "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me though he were dead, yet shall he live."

When Jesus stepped out of his own grave, he is everything that he says that he is, and he can do anything that he says he can do.

“After His suffering, He showed Himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a period of 40 days…” (Acts 1:3)

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time…” (I Corinthians 15:3-6)
