Scholastic Book Fair comes to the library
In a new endeavor, the Lincoln Public Library will host a book
fair. Online ordering begins Aug. 6 and continues through Aug. 13.
Visit the library's website and
link to Scholastic's site to order.
All online orders will be shipped to the library for pickup at a
later date. Or you can come in and purchase your books in the Annex
Community Room on Aug. 9 and 10. This book fair will include both
children's and adult books, as well as posters, bookmarks, pencils
and other school supplies.
Annual used book sale
The library's annual used book sale will again take place during
the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival weekend. Come to the Carnegie
Building basement on Aug. 25 and 26 to purchase books at $1 a bag,
with no limit to the number of bags. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on
Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. |
The Lincoln Public Library
is
located at 725 Pekin St., with adult nonfiction and
reference materials in the historic Carnegie Building. The Annex directly behind
houses adult fiction and the
Youth Services Department.
All library events are free and
open to the public. Online, visit

Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesdays
and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Summer Reading Program shirt pickup
If you reached your individual reading goal this summer, don't
forget to pick up your free T-shirt prize. They are available in the
Youth Services Department. The "wear your shirt to school day" is
Aug. 22. Please pick up your shirt before your school year starts.
Miss Lou's blog
Louella Moreland, youth services librarian, has a
blog that can
be accessed by linking through the library
website. She lists the
new children's and young adult books at the library and introduces
programs. Tell her your ideas and suggestions. You can also view
videos and pictures of library programs.
Upcoming events
The fall session of story time and craft class will start in
September. Watch for sign-up time to be published.
Library closing
The library will be closed Sept. 3 for Labor Day.
Circulation news
Paperback exchange -- Paperback exchange for oversized paperbacks
is now available in the Annex Building.
Gift certificates -- Need a gift idea? You can purchase a
one-year library card for an individual or a whole family living
outside the library district. The library will provide a gift
certificate for presenting, and the recipients can bring it in,
along with a photo ID and proof of address, to receive their very
own library card.

Book clubs -- The Annex Building circulation desk is collecting
reading lists for all the book clubs in the area. So if you can't
remember what you read or what you are supposed to read, we have you
covered. Drop off your lists at the circulation desk or e-mail April
Jensen, circulation manager, at
apriljensen4@gmail.com.
Going away on a trip? The circulation staff can put a hold on any
outstanding requests you may have so you get them when you return.
Just stop by and let the staff know your traveling dates.
Library on the Go
The library
website has a link to a feature called
Library on the
Go. This is an online database of items accessible through many
devices -- computer, mobile-portable devices or E-readers. Access
through your Kindle is available. Log in with your Lincoln Public
Library District card number and search for books, music or movies
to download and enjoy.
