Harness racing is an age-old tradition at the
Logan County Fair. In the early days it was a social affair
where families dressed in their best came to their boxes on a daily
basis and watched with great interest as the races progressed
throughout the afternoon.
Today
the setting is a bit more casual, but the interest in the competition
is no less intense.
Horses
and their owners were from as far as Mississippi and as close as
Springfield.
The horse rigged and warming up belongs to Tim Altman
of Springfield. Tim has been struggling to recover from injuries in
a head-on auto crash. His horse brought him great pleasure, and it
was hoped he would be inspired by seeing a picture of his horse
