Alvin "Al" J. Langenbahn, 88, of Lincoln, died Sunday,
Aug. 5, 2012, at 9:40 p.m. at The Christian Village.

LINCOLN-Alvin "Al" J. Langenbahn, 88, of Lincoln
passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Sunday August 5, 2012 at
Christian Village, Lincoln.
Al was born on October 22, 1923 in Lincoln, IL the
son of John and Lena Behrends Langenbahn. He married
Doris L. Yagow on November 9, 1946 in Mt. Pulaski,
IL. She survives in Lincoln.
Al is also survived by one daughter: Leanna (Daniel)
Lohrenz of Queen Creek, AZ; one son: Jon (Judy)
Langenbahn of Lincoln; one brother-in-law: Charles
Ridgeway of Broadwell; three grandchildren: Kristin
(Michael) Leathers of Gilbert, AZ; Nicholas Lohrenz
of Chandler, AZ and Shanna (Glenn) Gorham of San Tan
Valley, AZ; three great grandchildren: Abigayl and
Logan Leathers and Lily Danae Gorham and several
nieces and nephews. Al is the last of his immediate
family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two
sisters: Doris Langenbahn and Ruth Ridgeway.

Al retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass Co. after 36
years as a supervisor. He had formerly worked at
Stetson China Factory as a guilder. He was a member
of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lincoln; He served in
the U.S. Army during W.W. II, Company A 26th
Infantry from 1943-1945; he was a Life member of
Society of 1st Infantry Division and a charter
member of WWII Memorial in Washington DC.; He was a
two year Past Commander of VFW #1756; Past Commander
of Central Counties Council Infantry; Past Commander
of Disabled American Veterans #95; American Legion
Post #263; Past Commander of Military Order of the
Cooties #37; Amvets; 40 et 8; Military Order of the
Purple Heart; Charter member of the Eagles Lodge
#2708; he was a Logan County Farm Bureau member.
Visitation will be Friday, August 10 from 4:00-7:00
p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home,
Lincoln. V.F.W. rites will be held at 7:00 p.m.
following visitation. Services for Al will be
Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel
Lutheran Church of Lincoln with Rev. Andrew Nyren
and Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Burial will be at
Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL. on
Monday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. with full military
rites accorded by Lincoln American Legion Post #263.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church,
the V.F.W. #1756, Safe Haven Hospice or Christian
Village of Lincoln.
