2nd annual chalk art event to lead off Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival

[August 14, 2012]  Lincoln's annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Exposition will be on Aug. 23 in downtown Lincoln. Artists of all ages and abilities are invited to join the city of Lincoln and the Lincoln Park District as they combine their efforts to make something beautiful and interesting. This is the second year for the sidewalk art and it leads into Logan County's premier event -- the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival, Aug. 24-26.

Squares of sidewalk will be numbered and reserved for those who register in advance. Each space is $10, which includes a container of chalk and hairspray for sealant.

Registration forms will be available at Lincoln Park District until Sunday. After registering at the park district, individuals can come out and create their own designs on Aug. 23 between noon and 8 p.m. People can enter as an individual or as a team of two people or more.

Sponsors of this annual event are Culver's, Hampton Inn, Sugar Creek Orthodontics and Memorial Home Services.
