Comcast offers report on revenues in the city of Lincoln

[August 17, 2012]  On Tuesday evening, before the committee of the whole of the Lincoln City Council adjourned, Mayor Keith Snyder shared that he had received information from Comcast on their quarterly revenues from Lincoln residents.

The report came attached to the quarterly 5 percent franchise check mailed to the city.

Snyder said the city receives this payment every three months, but this was the first time Comcast had provided an explanation of how they determined the total on the check.

For the period of April through June, the 5 percent share issued to the city totaled $45,329.23.

Snyder said one thing he finds interesting is that the city earns 5 percent of the commissions Comcast receives from home shopping networks.

Below are the figures Snyder shared with local media at the Tuesday night meeting:

  • Expanded basic video service -- $374,501.79

  • Limited basic video service -- $229,679.05

  • Digital video service -- $151,362.47

  • Pay -- $38,027.01

  • PPV/VOD -- $28,783.56

  • Video equipment -- ($90.00)

  • Digital video equipment -- $4,631.29

  • Video installation, activation -- $16,674.07

  • Guide -- $319.48

  • Other -- $5,087.23

  • Late fees -- $9,886.20

  • Write-offs, recoveries -- ($11,853.59)

  • Ad sales -- $52,969.58

  • Home shopping commissions -- $6,604.29

Total -- $906,582.43

Franchise fee -- 5 percent: $45,329.23
