Monday evening, city aldermen welcomed Joe Mester as a probational city officer for the city of Lincoln. Mester hails from the Petersburg area and has served in the Menard County Sheriff's Department, the Petersburg Police Department and most recently with the Secretary of State Police, where he was assigned as a capitol police investigator. Mester is a firearms range instructor and a field training officer.
