[August 23, 2012]  EMDEN -- Eugene Lee Chapman, 90, of Emden, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at 5:15 a.m. at Lincoln's Christian Village.

Emden-Eugene Lee Chapman, 90, of Emden, IL passed away at Christian Village, Lincoln at 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012.

Eugene was born on October 19, 1921 at Carrollton, IL, the son of Charles and Helen Pointer Chapman. He married Dolores Detjen on November 4, 1950 at Emden, IL. She survives in Emden, IL.

Eugene is survived by two sons: Philip (Elizabeth) Chapman; Brent (Carol) Chapman, both of Emden, IL; one daughter: Sharon (Terry) Blackert of Geneseo, IL; one brother: David (Marsha) Chapman of Peoria, Illinois; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Funeral Director

Eugene retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. at Morton, IL as supervisor of inventory control after 45 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Emden, IL; served in the US Army-Air Corps; was a member of the Emden American Legion Post #506; Lifetime member of the Oasis; Guitarist Kingsmen Band for many years; Fun-O-Leers at Logan County Oasis and was an active member and past president.

Services for Eugene will be Monday, August 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Emden. Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery with full military rites accorded by the Emden American Legion Post. Visitation will be Sunday, August 26 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church of Emden, or Oasis Senior Center, or to the donor's choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, IL.
