At the 39th year of the event that started it
all, Lincoln's Art Fair, crowds filled the park from
early to late both Saturday and Sunday. Even to people who come
to the popular event each year, with 80 artists and 18 of those new,
there was a lot to take in. The art was diverse in mediums, with
themes ranging from fun and fresh to sedate, sophisticated or even
intriguing; such as hand-blown glassworks with phosphorescence that
glows after the lights go out.
Pictured with the following artists who received special recognition
are Sonnie Alexander and Brileigh Sarnes:

First place -- John Madison for his painting
|
Second place -- Alice Jaeger-Ashland and her
printmaking |

|
Third place -- John Stoeckley for his pen, ink
and watercolor
|
Janet Harris Memorial -- Carmel and Michael
Schramm Jewelry |
|
Best of Show -- Bob Holloway, a perennial
favorite, not only for his fanciful, historical pen, ink and
watercolor creations, but as much for his warm personality.
|
Best New Artist -- Kathryne Martin, a
photography
exhibitor in her first season
|
|
Overwhelmed, Martin transitioned from surprise
at being recognized for her work, to joy and tears ...
|
... to finding it hard to believe she actually
got money for it too, and finally just plain happiness. |
