Delavan Fall Festival to offer a variety of entertainment throughout the weekend

[August 28, 2012]  DELAVAN -- A variety of music and other entertainment will be part of the Delavan Fall Festival this weekend.

Friday night entertainment

The festival will begin with a baseball game at 6 p.m. at the Lake Park diamond. Delavan American Legion Post 382 and Marjorie Tuley are sponsoring the baseball game this year.

The carnival opens at 6 p.m.

The music for the teen dance starts at 7 p.m. with Music 4U DJ Greg Hackett, under the large pavilion. Mark Cunningham, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 382 and the Delavan Order of the Eastern Star are sponsoring the teen dance.

The "Movie Under the Stars" for kids will be shown at the amphitheater at dusk. Mark Cunningham and Delavan Mutual Insurance are this year's movie sponsors.

Saturday entertainment

Musical entertainment on Saturday will begin with Bob and Charlotte Watkins performing under the big pavilion. Bob has been playing music for many years, having had his own band as well as performing with various other groups. Most recently he was a member of the New Salem Country Opry for almost four years.

Music will continue from 3 to 6 p.m. under the big pavilion with Rusty Barr and the Good Ole Boys. Barr comes from Havana and has been playing music for a number of years with various groups. Rusty and the Good Ole Boys performed at the Delavan Fall Festival previously and received a warm response to their style of music.

The Cadillac Jack Band will keep people moving with their musical performance from 7 to 10 p.m. under the big pavilion. Simon Webb and his Cadillac Jack Band play a great variety of music, and the audience is sure to hear many familiar tunes. Back to the festival by popular demand is Delavan's own Cody Diekhoff, the Chicago Farmer. He will perform at the amphitheater from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information on Diekhoff, visit his website at www.chicagofarmer.com.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Detmers, Davis Mortuary, The Farmhouse, Nehmelman Auction Service, and the Delavan Ladies Cemetery Association are sponsoring this musical entertainment.

Tremont Area Community Choir to perform Sunday

On Sunday, the musical entertainment for the Delavan Fall Festival will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a patriotic musical.

The Tremont Area Community Choir is made up of approximately 25 folks from the area who love to sing. They have put together a program entitled "Welcome Home, A Patriotic Musical." This is made up of many familiar patriotic numbers and is about a 40-minute production.

This performance will be under the big pavilion near the food stand in Lake Park. Lawn chairs are welcome too.

More Sunday entertainment

Musical entertainment on Sunday will continue at 3 p.m. with a duo called Highnoon, featuring Debbie Schneider and Bob Weaver. These two individuals have been performing in the area for many years with various groups and also as a duo. They were both members of the New Salem Country Opry for several years. Their performance will include many favorite classic country hits, just the way they used to be on the radio.

The New Blood Gospel/Bluegrass band will perform from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. under the big pavilion. While playing their variety of music in the fields of gospel and bluegrass, they also share and witness their experiences over the years. This group has performed in the area many times and seems to be a favorite of many. Over the last few years, they have earned many awards from various country music associations. Monday entertainment

The Prime Time Country Opry from Hopedale will provide musical entertainment on Monday. They will perform two shows in the big pavilion. The first show will begin at 1 p.m., shortly after the parade. The second show will begin at 4 p.m. to close out the festival weekend.

The Prime Time Country Opry recently celebrated their eighth anniversary. Members of the group are Janet Durham, Linda Thomas, Tom Parton, Al Alsman, Janice Zilm, Jason Benefield, Jason Zilm, Paul Lewis and Craig Durham. For more information, visit their website, www.primetimecountry.com.
