A traditional Nativity set will contain a minimum of three to five pieces. Mary, Joseph and the Christ Child are a must. Additional pieces of a basic set can include a variation of a stable and a manger where the baby will lie.

Sets can be quite simple, or quite elaborate with a multitude of additional pieces such as shepherds, sheep, angels, barn animals and wise men.

Nativities can also take on a wide variety of shapes and styles, from very traditional to very unique. Regardless of the number of pieces or the style in which they are presented, each set holds special meaning for the owner and for the believer.
