April 10 -- Monday afternoon the remains of
the original Civil War soldier statue that stood near the Logan
County Courthouse were laid to rest in Postville Park in Lincoln.
The committee formed to replace the statue debated for a while on
how to respectfully dispose of the broken soldier. They finally
concluded Postville would be a suitable place. With permission from
the city of Lincoln, a small ceremony took place; then the soldier
was covered. A marker will be placed at the site to commemorate the
statue.
