July 2 -- As the drought intensifies in
Logan County to D2 (severe) to D4 (exceptional), a quick poll of the
elevators brought corn predictions ranging from dire to moderate.
One major elevator operator in the area gave stern warnings that
they likely won't be here next year.

July 27 -- For about a minute Thursday
morning, something strange fell from the sky in Lincoln. For a
moment people were confused and bewildered; then they remembered, it
was called rain. However, technically it was only a sprinkle as the
drops stopped after only a few.

July 28 -- "I get by with a little help from
my friends." Above, the young lady was struggling with an elusive
hot dog, but with a little help, the dog finally made it to the bun.
This is just one scene caught during the community night at Melrose
Park Thursday evening. The park was indeed a fun place to be, with
plenty of food and opportunities to play with real police cars, fire
trucks and dump trucks.

Aug. 13 -- Two Logan County bridges have been
closed in the past month.
Also, the Logan County Highway Department received a letter of
credit last month from the construction company working on the new
Aldi building. They are in plans to build a cul-de-sac nearby as
part of the construction. The jurisdiction of the roadway will be
transferred to the city of Lincoln after construction is finished.

Aug. 17 -- Country, honor and God at the
heart of Traveling World War II Memorial
Both James Logan, standing, and William B. Wyles, to the right of
Logan, served in the Navy during WWII.
