Atlanta – Ruth L. Hutchcraft, 93, of Atlanta passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at The Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hutchcraft will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Quiram Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta with Mr. Maurice Stribling officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.
Ruth L. Hutchcraft was born August 11, 1918, in Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Mabel Lewis Langridge. She married Arthur C. Hutchcraft Sr. on October 24, 1948. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1986.
Surviving Ruth are: one step-daughter: Sandra Jacobs; two daughters: Trudy (Michael) Coleman of Dunlap and Bunny (Doug) Laymon of Atlanta; and two sons: Arthur “Coy” (Anne) Hutchcraft Jr. of Atlanta and Gregg (Kathy) Hutchcraft of Leroy; 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by one granddaughter: Niki Hutchcraft, one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Hutchcraft was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary and a past President of the Atlanta Women’s Club and Atlanta A-Team, and served on the Election Board for over 40 years.
Ruth retired from the State of Illinois after 32 years of service in the Archives Division.
Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad or Atlanta A-Team.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
