Shirley Ann Thompson Schumacher, 76, of St. Cloud, Minn., formerly
of Tempe, Ariz., died Wednesday, Feb.15, 2012, at the St. Cloud
Hospital.

Lincoln- Shirley Ann (Thompson) Schumacher, age 76,
of St. Cloud, formerly of Tempe, Arizona, passed
away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at the St. Cloud
Hospital, St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00
a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at Holy Family Catholic
Church prior to the service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday, Feb. 25 at Holy Family Catholic Church in
Lincoln, Illinois with Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible
officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in
Lincoln.
Shirley was born on Dec. 5, 1935 in Lincoln,
Illinois to Glen Edward and Ann Joan (Maiewski)
Thompson. Her family moved to Chicago, where she
graduated from Calumet High School in 1953. She met
and in 1955 married Edward Rudolph Schumacher of
Chicago, and lived in the Burbank/Oak Lawn area
until moving with their family to Tempe, Arizona in
1971. Shirley lived there until moving to St. Cloud
in 2011.
Her occupations included homemaker and mother;
waitress and front desk clerk at the old Harlem
Airport; hostess at the Charles Continental Steak
House; a legal clerk; and in food service for the
Tempe Unified School District. She took great joy in
her children, in baking and cooking, and in colorful
fashion and decoration.

Survivors include her brother, William Thompson of
Chicago; children, Steven of Anaheim, California,
Barbara (Merrill) of Colorado Springs, Colorado,
Richard of San Jose, California, and Lawrence of St.
Cloud, Minnesota; six grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother;
her sister, Sharon (Scanlon); and her husband.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Peasley
Funeral Home.
