Lincoln, IL - Lincoln Christian University welcomes
2010 John Templeton Award for Theological Promise
recipient Dr. Jeffrey Stackert as part of its
Biblical Studies Symposium. Dr. Stackert will be
presenting a paper entitled "The Devastation of
Darkness: Disability in Exodus 10:21-23, 27 and
Intensification in the Plagues." The public is
invited to join all students for this lecture
scheduled in Restoration Hall room R23 on February
29 from noon to 12:50 p.m.
Dr. Stackert is the Assistant Professor of Hebrew
Bible in the Divinity School at the University of
Chicago. He earned his PhD in Near Eastern and
Judaic Studies (Ancient Near East and Bible) at
Brandeis University. Dr. Stackert won the 2010 John
Templeton Award for Theological Promise with his
publication, Rewriting the Torah: Literary Revision
in Deuteronomy and the Holiness Legislation (Tübingen:
Mohr Siebeck, 2007).
The Biblical Studies Symposium meets every Wednesday
during academic semesters as a way to provide an
outlet for the discussion of biblical scholarship at
Lincoln Christian University. Presenters typically
present a paper on their most recent scholarly work.
Symposium presenters are typically LCU faculty, but
on occasion may include student work or speakers
like Dr. Stackert who come from other colleges and
universities.
