 As the system progresses, snow will diminish and end over much of New Mexico by Monday evening. Ahead of the system, moisture will ramp up across the Texas Panhandle. This will translate into periods of heavy rain and snow in the far southern Texas Panhandle and western Texas. This precipitation will change into snow by nightfall in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles. Expect up to 5 inches of snowfall in most areas, with locally higher amounts of up to 8 inches in the mountains, by the end of the day.
To the east, wet and cloudy conditions will continue in the southeastern corner of the nation as a nearly stationary front lingers across the Gulf Coast
states, from southeastern Texas through the Southeast and across the Carolinas. Moist air pooling along this front will trigger more scattered showers and thunderstorms in these regions through the day.
In the West, a cold front will bring rain to the Pacific Northwest.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a morning low of
minus 9 degrees at Kremmling, Colo., to a high of 98 degrees at Bonifay, Fla.
