[January 11, 2012]  Representing what her bosses say is the best of nursing home caregiving, CNA Virginia "Gee Gee" Baker has been named Christian Village Employee of the Year.

"Gee Gee shows true dedication to her fellow workers and residents," noted administrator Doug Rutter. "She's compassionate towards those needing her care, as well as being hardworking and reliable. She takes her work seriously while keeping a good sense of humor.

"Gee Gee is great with the residents, and the families love her," he added. "She's one of the best at her job, not only in tackling her responsibilities, but also in taking time to get to know the residents. She goes above and beyond for her residents and co-workers, never saying ‘no' when asked to help.

"When I came to The Christian Village, brand-new to health care, I was told to watch Gee Gee carefully because of her dedication, compassion and professionalism," Rutter noted. "As I've had the privilege to work with her over the past two years, I've discovered she lives up to that reputation every day."

Baker came to the Christian Village in 1987 as a CNA and continues in that position today.
