Lincoln- Thomas O. Loeffelholz, 72, passed away
on Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Thomas Oscar Loffelholz was born on February 24, 1939 in Lakeland, Florida the
son of Oscar and Leta Pleumer Loeffeholz. He married Janice Kay Hoepfner on
September 2, 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lincoln. She Survives.
Also surviving are their three children: Mark (wife: Cynthia) of Lincoln, Lori
Kish (husband Mark) of Palmetto, Florida, Michael (wife Melissa) of Los Angeles,
California, Seven grandchildren: Ian & Alec Loeffelholz, Matthew, Andrew &
Michael Kish, Grace & Lucy Loeffelholz. Two brothers: Daniel of Lincoln, Robert
of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Marian and a brother: James.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:00
a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Glen Fontanna officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. Rosary Service will be held at 4:45
p.m. prior to the visitation.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln with Military rites accorded by
American Legion Post # 263.
Tom's family moved to Lincoln in 1947. He
attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Lincoln Community High
School in 1957. He joined the United States Navy in 1957 until 1959, serving
aboard the USS John Paul Jones and the USS Grand Canyon.
He was an accomplished guitar player. With his father and brothers the family
often played music at the Logan County Fair and at the Lincoln Theatre with the
Roy Rogers Club. He later formed "The Echoes Four Band" in 1961 which played
throughout the state until 1978.
From 1959 until 1970 he was the owner/operator of Loeffelholz Music Store on
Kickapoo Street. He retired from General Telephone in 1991. He was a member of
Holy Family Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight Member of the Knights of
Columbus Council # 1250 in Lincoln.
He loved to fish and was an avid Cardinal fan.
