JANUARY 9

Novartis Consumer Health Inc. Issues Recall of Certain Over-The-Counter Products Due to Potential Presence of Foreign Tablets or Chipped or Broken Tablets or Gelcaps

Novartis Consumer Health, Inc. (NCH) is recalling all lots of select bottle packaging configurations of Excedrin® and NoDoz® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier as well as Bufferin® and Gas-X Prevention® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2013 or earlier, in the United States. NCH is taking this action as a precautionary measure because the products may contain stray tablets, capsules, or caplets from other Novartis products, or contain broken or chipped tablets.

These over-the-counter products were distributed nationwide to wholesalers and retailers.

Novartis Consumer Health Inc. is notifying its distributors and customers and is arranging for return of all recalled products. Wholesalers and retailers should stop distribution and return the affected product using Novartis Product Return information that is being provided to them.

Consumers that have the product(s) being recalled should stop using the product(s) and contact the Novartis Consumer Relationship Center at 1-888-477-2403 (available Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time) for information on how to return the affected products and receive a full refund. For more detailed information, consumers should visit our website at www.novartisOTC.com as of January 9, 2012. Consumers should contact their physician or healthcare provider if they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking or using these drug products.

JANUARY 10

BED FRAMES 

The Land of Nod is recalling Blake Bed Frames sold at The Land of Nod stores in Illinois and Washington and on the internet from September 2009 to October 2011. A child's torso can become lodged in the gap between the footboard's top rail and the mattress, posing an entrapment hazard. 

This recall involves Blake model bed frames. "The Land of Nod" and "Blake" are printed on a barcode sticker affixed to the headboard. 

Consumers should contact The Land of Nod at (800) 933-9904 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or visit www.landofnod.com for a replacement footboard with a closed-gap design. More info at www.recalls.org.

JANUARY 11

BICYCLE TRAILERS 

Chariot Carriers is recalling Chariot bicycle trailers and bicycle trailer conversion kits sold nationwide from December 2005 to August 2011. The bicycle trailer's hitch mechanisms can crack and break, causing the trailer to detach from the bicycle. This poses an injury hazard to children in the bicycle trailer. 

This recall involves Chariot bicycle trailers and bicycle trailer conversion kits. Recalled trailers have serial numbers from 1205-xxxx to 0710-xxxx (representing manufacture dates December 2005 through July 2010) located the left side on the frame. Recalled conversion kits have hitch arms that attach the carrier to the bicycle with model number "20100503" printed on a label attached to the aluminum tube next to the warning label. Older conversion kits without a label, but with a release push button located where the hitch arm inserts into the carrier, are also being recalled.

TEA LIGHT CANDLES 

Demdaco is recalling Tea Lights in Carruth Candleholder Collection Sets sold nationwide from January 2010 to November 2011. The tea light can burn with an excessive flame height, posing a fire hazard. 

The recalled tea lights were sold as part of the Carruth Candleholder Collection sets. The following eight models and stock numbers are included in this recall: Butterfly, 17708; Smile, 17709; Sun, 17710; Roots of Love, 17711; Sunflower, 17712; Hummingbird, 17713; Bunny, 17714; Friendship, 17715.

JANUARY 12

ELECTRIC HEATERS 

Kaz USA is recalling Honeywell Surround Select Portable Electric Heaters sold nationwide from July 2011 to December 2011. The heater's internal housing, including the fan, heating element and circuitry, can detach, posing a burn hazard. 

This recall includes Honeywell Surround Select Series portable electric heaters with model numbers HZ-420, HZ-430, and HZ-440 and five-digit date codes that have 11 as the last two digits. The model number is stamped into the plastic on the bottom of the heater. The date code is located on the metal prongs of the heater's electrical plug. Honeywell and Surround Heat are printed on the front of the heaters.

FLOOR LAMPS 

Big Lots is recalling floor lamps sold exclusively at Big Lot stores from April 2010 to November 2011. The wiring for the lamp's light sockets can become exposed, posing a risk of electric shock. In addition, use of the recommended standard 40 watt light bulbs can generate excessive heat, which can melt the double plastic shades over the bulbs. 

This recall involves Classic Quarters Five Light Floor Lamps. Recalled lamps use standard incandescent or CFL bulbs and have labels marked with the model number "G-1843-5" affixed to the underside of the lamp base. These lamps can be further identified by SKU numbers 612007239, 612007829 or 612008982 at the beginning of the instructions. 

Consumers should return the lamps to a Big Lots store for a full refund.
