United Technologies 4Q profit up nearly 11 pct

[January 25, 2012]  HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- United Technologies Corp. says its fourth-quarter profit rose nearly 11 percent as revenue grew 1 percent.

The manufacturer of elevators, jet engines, heating and cooling equipment and other industrial products says net income was $1.33 billion, or $1.47 per share. That's up from $1.2 billion, or $1.31 per share, in the October-December period in 2010.

Revenue grew to $14.97 billion from $14.86 billion.

Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting earnings per share of $1.46 and revenue of $15.06 billion.

United Technologies is based in Hartford, Conn.
