Fluegel's presentation will include basic information about the
invasive insect and also provide some recommendations on things that
homeowners and property managers can do to prepare for the eventual
arrival of the pest. Current estimates put the damage of this
insect at over 50 million dead ash trees throughout the eastern and
Midwestern United States up to this point, and the insect continues
to spread slowly.
Trees Forever is celebrating its 23rd year of tree planting and
other environmental efforts. To date, through a network of thousands
of community volunteers, the organization has planted over 3 million
trees in Iowa, Illinois and the Midwest. The group has also
developed educational materials that are distributed nationally and
internationally.
