This week the 4- and 5 year-olds at Little
Lambs Day Care experienced firsthand some of the pleasures of
camping, in somewhat of a make-believe way.
Way back behind the day care building, there is
a very nice corner that is heavily wooded. The teachers at the
center set up the area so that children could spend their early
mornings outside in the shade, imagining what it would be like to
camp.

When kids go out into nature, what is one of their favorite things to
do?
|
Dig holes! |
|
|
Of course it is still warm, even in the shade, but teachers made sure
there was cold water for everyone to drink when they needed it.
|
On Friday the craft project was creating art
with the feathers they pretend found in the woods. |
|
Time to go fishing.
|
You have to have a pond and fish in order to
go fishing. Here is the pretend pond, the pretend fisher and
the pretend fish. |

Everyone has their own favorite thing to do.
In the background, riding in a wagon is the highlight of the day.
|
And of course you can't go camping without
tents!
|
|
Time to do a little bird-watching.
|
Pitching in to help pitch the tent, the
teacher here has an excellent helper. |
