Kit
Sunderland will present her "traveling" art camp in Lincoln from July 30 to
Aug. 3 for students in first through eighth grade. The camp will meet from
1-4 p.m. each day at the studio of local artist Kerry Rolewics, 519 Pulaski
in downtown Lincoln. |
The art camp is offered through the
Sunney Art Center, which is dedicated to the fun of being a kid and
being creative. The camp will
include a variety of media and techniques, such as pencil drawings
and painting, collages, and also sculptures.
The tuition is $100, which includes
a camp shirt.
Registration is available online at
www.sunneyartcenter.com.
2012 is the fifth year Sunderland
is offering art camp in Lincoln and the second year she has traveled
from her new studio in Plainfield to do so. She also travels to her
hometown of Tuscola and her husband's hometown of Clinton.
Sunderland, the owner of Sunney Art
Center, and her husband, Jason, moved to Lincoln in 1995, and she
began teaching private and group art lessons and selling her work in
1996. Sunderland's two children -- Jonah, 16, and Selah, 14 -- were
born in Lincoln. A collection of her work can be seen in the new
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Sunderland received a bachelor's
degree in fine arts with an emphasis on painting from Northern
Illinois University in 2006.

The Sunderland family moved to
Plainfield in 2010. She is excited to come back to her "second"
hometown, hoping to in some way enrich the community.
