CHESTNUT -- Jack D. Buckley, 77, of
Chestnut, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 1:20 a.m. at his home.

Chestnut: Jack D. Buckley, 77, of Chestnut died at
1:20 A.M. Thursday May 31, 2012 at his residence.
Jack was born on November 7, 1934 in the home of his
parents, Floyd A. and Maude M. Williams Buckley. He
was married to Harriet Winkelmann from Chestnut. She
preceded him in death in January of 2007.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from
1957-1959 in Heidelberg, Germany.
He is survived by one son, Dan Buckley, one daughter
Denise Buckley, three sisters, Mary Lou Daniels,
Jeannette Rigdon and Margaret Brown, two brothers
Floyd Buckley and Lloyd Buckley. He was preceded in
death by one son J.D. Buckley Jr. who died in May
1977, his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.

Mr. Buckley was a member of Chestnut Zion Lutheran
Church. He retired from Illinois Power in 1988 after
35 years of service and has since been actively
involved in numerous community and statewide
activities. He was a long time member of the Latham
Volunteer Fire Department and led the Latham Troop
121 Boy Scouts.
He was yearly involved in the 4-H Club as a
Department Superintendent, State Fair supervisor for
agricultural products, and is well known for his
yearly handmade Christmas candy. He was involved
himself for over 20 years of agricultural and
culinary competitions. He also enjoyed golf, bowling
and baking for the area fairs.
Services for Mr. Buckley will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday May
5, 2012 at the Chestnut Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel
Dietrich officiating. Burial will follow at Illini Cemetery,
Warrensburg, IL where full military rites will be accorded
by the Mt. Pulaski American Legion Post #447. Visitation
will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Monday evening at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski.
Memorials may be made to the 4-H Club or Chestnut Zion
Lutheran Church.
