VeriFone, A123, Spirit Airlines are Tuesday movers

[June 13, 2012]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

VeriFone Systems Inc., down $2.02 at $31.92

The electronic payments company said that a jury ruled against it in a patent dispute and said it was taking an $18 million charge.

Theragenics Corp., up 32 cents at $2.08

The medical device company said that it is purchasing $10 million of its own shares in a move called a modified Dutch Auction.

FactSet Research Systems Inc., down $12.87 at $91.70

The financial information company's third-quarter profit rose, but its fourth-quarter revenue outlook was below expectations.

A123 Systems Inc., up 54 cents at $1.58

The electric car battery maker said that it had developed new lithium-ion technology that can operate in extreme heat or cold.

TeleNav Inc., down 19 cents at $5.57

The navigation software-maker could have a new competitor in Apple, which said its latest operating system has turn-by-turn navigation.

Synergetics USA Inc., down 19 cents at $4.08

The medical device maker said that its profit declined in the fiscal third quarter as the weak European economy hurt its sales.

Spirit Airlines Inc., up 66 cents at $18.60

A Citigroup analyst said that a recent sell-off of the low-cost airline's stock makes this a good time to buy its shares.

Ramtron International Corp., up 61 cents at $2.42

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. made its second takeover bid for the rival semiconductor company worth about $87.5 million.
