Comes to Illinois after
5 years at Villanova

CHAMPAIGN -- Lon Record has
been hired as strength and conditioning coach at the University of
Illinois, in charge of the Fighting Illini men's and women's
basketball teams. Record has 13 years of experience in the
profession and has earned designations of Certified Strength and
Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning
Association and Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified by the
Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. He comes
to Champaign after serving the last five seasons as strength and
conditioning coach at Villanova, where he worked with both the men's
and women's basketball squads.

"The areas of strength and conditioning are a top priority for
our program, so it was important to go out and get one of the best
in the profession to work with our athletes," head coach John Groce
said. "We have found that individual in Lon Record. He has a proven
track record of developing athletes at the highest level through his
innovative training regimen. Coach Bollant and I are excited to have
Coach Record working with our players on a daily basis to help
them reach their full athletic potential."
Prior to his tenure at Villanova, Record was the head football
strength and conditioning coach for one year at Florida
International. He also spent six years at Notre Dame, serving on the
strength and conditioning staff for football as well as with the
men's soccer and men's lacrosse teams and with the track throwers.
Record began his career as a graduate assistant at Austin Peay,
serving as the head strength and conditioning coach.

Record earned a bachelor's degree in recreation-fitness
management from Lock Haven University in 1999 and a master's
degree in exercise science from Austin Peay State University in
2000. He and his wife, Brooke, have two sons, Holt and Connor.
