The southern portion of this front will linger in the Southeast, creating chances of showers and thunderstorms along the central Gulf Coast.
Meanwhile, to the West, the system in the West will advance into the Plains Wednesday night and Thursday morning, bringing rain and thunderstorms to areas from the
upper Mississippi Valley and upper Great Lakes through the southern Plains. There is a slight risk of severe weather development from the
upper Mississippi Valley and the western Great Lakes into eastern Nebraska by the afternoon. While the main concerns with these storms will be damaging wind gusts and hail events, isolated tornadoes will become possible during the afternoon and evening.
Farther West, onshore flow will maintain chances of light rain in northern Washington.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a morning low of 30 degrees at Grayling, Mich., to a high of 104 degrees at Needles, Calif.
